New Technology that Melts the Snow on the Asphalt
A company called ACS that partners with the Government has developed a long term chlorine free additive to effectively melt the Snow when it hits the ground.
The researchers prepared a sodium acetate salt and combined with a surfactant, silicon dioxide, sodium bicarbonate and blast furnace slag. That is a waste product from power plant operations to produce a fine powder. They then cover the particles in the powder polymers solution forming tiny microcapsules then it's mixed into the Asphalt to make the Snow unable to stay on the Asphalt.
There's also driveway heating technology that makes the Snow melt on contact. The driveway or sidewalks are made with heating rods that is covered with concrete then it heats up wen it becomes very cold.
This is a great technology because it's safer for drivers and pedestrians in the Snow days. It is also eco friendly and does not have any destructive effects.
